Lucas joined the Deshusses’ lab as an Associate in Research in January 2016 and aspires to be a Civil & Environmental Engineering (CEE) PhD student. He is a native of Bolivia and a graduate from Zamorano University (Honduras) with a BS degree in Development & Environmental Engineering. Previously, he conducted research in the influence of inert materials on methanogenic microbial communities to facilitate the development of novel reactor schemes at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in the CEE Department. Lucas will work with the ADPL team at Duke to expand the scope and quality of monitoring of the existing field units in Kenya, India and the Philippines. In addition, he will contribute to system enhancements and the improvement of the commercial value and market readiness of the ADPL.
